Zentangle
This piece of artwork focuses on the artistic style of zentangle art. The name of this piece is “Paranoid” due to the representation of a solitary deer cautiously looking over their shoulder in fear of predators. This piece consists of a deer, trees, and other natural surroundings, all with lines and patterns draw into them. Different elements used were the use of line, patterns, value, and shape. To complete this project, the two tools needed were a sharpie and a ruler. Many of the patterns were inspired by the vast number of amazing artworks on zentangle.com. The idea to focus the zentangle piece on a deer sprouted from the uniqueness of the animal. Many of my classmates chose to do animals such as birds, bears, tigers, etc… so choosing a deer seemed more distinct. In terms of personal goals of this project, the main goal was to finish the project in time without being rushed, which was fulfilled. Also, another goal was to prove that this project can be done neatly and looked presentable. While pursuing this goal, a realization that taking risks in art is necessary to allow for a piece to receive its uniqueness. Although the final piece was not everything that was wanted, this piece allowed for newly found confidence to take more risks and not worry about something being correct or perfect in order to be considered a “good” piece of art.
